Latchford U16s 34
Pilkingtons U16s - 4
Latchford produced a scintillating first half display to secure two valuable
points against opponents who re-grouped well after a torrid first 30
minutes.
The Unicorns led 30-4 at half time scoring some memorable tries on the back
of powerful forward play, excellent support work and unselfish handling.
Fraser Jones-Lake, Andy Unsworth, Matt Reid, Feme Adepetun, Mark Jennings
and Damon Rauhihi scored tries on the back of some superb teamwork in which
half backs Scott Whiteley and Ryan Singleton were outstanding. Adepetun
added three conversions to complete the scoring.
The second half saw Latchford re-shuffle and when Reid darted over for his
second try it looked like it would be more of the same, however it is to
Pilks huge credit that their enthusiasm in defence stemmed the flow and saw
the rapidly developing Dan Courchee tackled into touch on no less than four
occasions when going for the try line.

12th October 2008
Latchford U16s 28
Thatto Heath U16s 14
Latchford gave a dominant second half performance in hot conditions against well organised and committed visitors.
A bruising first half saw the sides locked 10-10 at the interval with both sides in the main defending well. Latchford scored tries through Ryan Singleton and Feme Adepetun, who also added a conversion.
The efforts of the first half seemed to take their toll on the Crusaders as the Latchford pack started to take control and tries from inspirational captain Damon Rauhihi, Eddie Krawiecki, Scott Whiteley and a second from Adepetun, who added a further conversion.
A late consolation for Thatto couldn’t take the gloss off an excellent victory for the Unicorns for whom Mike Hesketh gave another tireless all round display.

Wigan St Patricks U16s 12 v 20 Latchford U16s
Latchford returned from Wigan with two hard earned points scoring five tries
to two in difficult windy conditions.
The Unicorns got off to the perfect start when James Brazendale sprinted
over from 60 metres from the first scrum of the game. Mike Hesketh powered
over shortly after as Latchford dominated. Poor ball control after this saw
Wigan hit back, however the impressive Gareth Cox put Matt Reid in out wide
and Latchford led 12-6 at the interval.
Aggression levels increased after the break and with 20 minutes left Jake
White was dismissed for retaliation. This also brought a huge response from
the remaining players who continued to pin the hosts back. Cox made the
score 16-6 and although St Pats hit back immediately their indiscipline
gifted Latchford easy metres. Ryan Singleton burrowed over late on to
complete the scoring on a day when the gusting wind meant converting tries
from out wide virtually impossible.

Latchford U16s 31 v 12 Halton Farnworth Hornets U16s
Both sides went into this game unbeaten. A close fought game saw Latchford
pulling clear in the last 15 minutes as their outstanding pack of forwards
finally wore down the Halton resistance.
Latchford dominated the early exchanges with Fraser Jones-Lake and Tom Green
crossing for early tries and Feme Adepetun converting one. Halton typically
worked their way back into the game and went into half time leading 12-10
taking advantage of a sin-binning with two quick tries.
The second half gradually saw Latchford gain the upper hand as their ball
control improved. Mike Hesketh and Matt Reid scored tries to make it 18-12
with 15 minutes to go and when Scott Whiteley kicked a 25m field goal the
Halton spirit seemed to ebb away. The Unicorns then finished with a flourish
with Eddie Krawiecki powering over and Reid diving in for his second try.
Adepetun converted both tries to give Latchford a well earned two points.

Chorley Panthers U16s 0 v 32 Latchford U16s
A tight, heavy, playing area coupled with a stiff breeze meant the Latchford
attitude had to be spot on against opponents looking for their first victory
of the season.
An excellent all round performance saw the defence absorb some heavy early
pressure after Mike Hesketh had powered over for an early try. The hosts
used the wind well with a shrewd kicking game however Latchfords enthusiasm
in the tackle ensured the line stayed in tact. Mid-way through the half Feme
Adepetun bust the Chorley line and ran 60 metres to score, which he duly
converted. HT 10-0.
The second half saw Latchford gain the ascendency forcing the Panthers into
numerous errors and it was a measure of the visitors discipline and
composure that saw them only concede their first penalty of the game after
45 minutes. The Unicorns gained momentum with skipper Damon Rauhihi and Andy
Unsworth both powering over from 20 metres. Adepetun adding both goals. Then
Louis Houghton scored a superb try following a pinpoint kick from Ryan
Singleton. Chorley continued to try and break the Latchford line however the
goal line defence stood solid. In the closing moments the impressive Eddie
Krawiecki scooted 30 metres from his own 10 metre line before releasing the
supporting Matt Reid who cruised past the full back to score under the
posts. Miraculously Krawiecki kicked a superb goal from in front!
