1 Jan 2007 - Youth Section Registrations
Just to update you as to where we're at for club youth registrations. Each team from U10 upwards is allowed to carry just 25 registered players at any one time. There is no such restriction at U9 and U8
U17's - 25 players currently registered of which 1 is playing up a year and no transfers used
U16's - 22 players currently registered of which just 2 transfers have been used
U15's - 20 players currently registered of which just 1 transfer used
U14's - 20 players currently registered of which 2 are playing up and 1 has transfered out so the current squad stands at 19
U13'U' - 22 players currently registered
U13'G' - 23 players currently registered of which just 1 transfer used
U12'U' - 21 players currently registered of which 3 cards are awaited, 1 player is playing up and 1 has transfered out so the current squad stands at 20
U12'G' - 13 players currently registered of which 1 player playing up
U11's - 17 players currently registered of which 3 playing up, 2 transfers used, 2 transfers out, so the current squad is 15
U10's - 20 players currently registered of which 1 card is awaited, 1 is playing up, 1 transfer used, 5 have transfered out, so the current squad is 15
U9's - 15 players currently registered of which 1 is playing up, 2 transfers used
U8's - 16 players currently registered of which 7 are playing up (so there's 7 eligible for next season's U8's)
Summary: -
We have registered 234 children since the start of the season and have a current membership of 225 players among our 10 age groups (12 teams).
Our U17's are the only team at capacity and would need to de-register before signing on anyone else.
Special mention must go to our U10's who have experienced a potential terminal exodus of players but have recruited like mad to maintain very healthy numbers AND to our U8's who have ensured we already have sufficient numbers for next season's U8's. It should also be noted that we have two teams at U12 & 13 showing 34 & 43 players respectively at those age groups.
We have 39 current representative players from 2006 with the new rep season just about to begin. A mark of our success will be seen by how many (if any) of our current U16's are picked up by professional clubs. Just for the record we have 6 ex Unicorns professionals still on Warrington Wolves' books (Cooper, Gandy, Mitchell, Faulkner, Mellor and Brown) of which Mike Cooper has already made his Super League debut.
