Believe it or not the U14's and 15's squads are still to be finalised with a couple of places up for grabs.However, we do know that some of our nominations have been successful and show Latchford Albion's youth section continues to develop young RL players to the highest level.
This year we all celebrated the natural advancement of Mike Cooper from a Unicorn to a Wolf, playing in the Challenge Cup for Warrington against London Scholars. We also monitor the progress of last year's Under 16's Lee Mitchell, Joe Gandy, Ben Mellor and Ashley Faulkner who are regularly competing in the Junior Academy team. They have been joined by a player from this year's Under 16's, Danny Brown, while Danny's team mate, Mark Smith is now a member of the Foundation Academy.
So what about the Service Area squads? As we said earlier the Under 15's squad is still to be confirmed in its entirety with a couple of Latchford lads hopeful of those final places. However, the following fourteen Unicorns are in: -
Antony Britton, Jack Cooper, Ashley Cornelia, Jack Davies, Jon Hill, Mike Lea, Matt Lomax, Ryan Main, Joe Mellor, Jack Probert, Ben Reynolds, Tom Rigby, Richard Taylor and Kallum Watkins.
For the Under 14's squad we know that John Hewitt and Adam Yates-Dutton have been selected.
In the Under 13's we have the following half a dozen lads: George Briggs, Ashley Cox, Tom Green, Eddie Kraweicki, Damon Tauroa-Rauhihi and Andy Unsworth
Finally the Under 12's squad has another half dozen Latchford players, four from our U12 Giants and a couple of our U13's who are playing up: Andrew Gilbert, Luke Gilooley, Ben Sherlock, Jordan Sherlock, Jon Rigby and Alex Pendlebury.
Of course it's not just players who we try to develop and we wish our coaches Sean Mellor, John Wilkinson, Ian Bennion and Andy Wood all the best as coaches at different ages.
Finally we should just take a moment to congratulate the nine Under 11 players who have done so well for the Town School's team helping them to progress to the cup final recently. They are Ashley Cox, Chris Hunt, James Johnson, David Lea, Andre Savelio, Jake Slydell, Mikey Wharton, Matty Wilkinson and Callum Wright.
