Latchford Albion Unicorns were proud that the first time they had any eligible players for this honour (2004) two players were selected: Mike Cooper and Lee Mitchell. We are rightly proud that just two years on we have another player selected to represent his country - Joe Mellor
The Under 15s squad will begin preparing for their annual match against the Welsh Under-16 team at Brewery Field, Bridgend on Friday 14th April 2006 (ko 1pm) while the English Schools Under 16s squad will prepare for the tour of France, also in April.
The game against Wales will be England Under 15s' fourth fixture of this type between the two countries. England won have all the previous encounters.
Commenting on the game, England Under 15's Head Coach Chris Chapman said: "We are expecting a tough encounter with Wales. However, we have the
best available talent that has been identified through our extensive player pathway. All the players are keen to do well in their first year of international Rugby League".
The 22 man English Schools Rugby League Under-16s squad will play two international matches and a fixture against a Regional select side. The opening international will be in Perpignan on Monday 17th April, followed by a match on 20th April against a French Regional select in Albi. The second international will also be in Albi on the 23rd April.
Last year the English Schools team faced the touring France team and won both international encounters.
Ian Davies, the chairman of the English Schools Rugby League, will
manage the Under 16 team and he said: "All the players are thoroughly
looking forward to the challenge of a French tour.
"There is a great history to this tour and this group of players will be looking to set high standards both on and off the field as expected of international players". England Youth Under 15s Squad
