23 Feb 2006 - A new U16's Warrington Cup
We read with interest the Warrington Guardian article:
"New competition for Warrington youth rugby league teams"
WARRINGTON Amateur Rugby League's cup competitions have been boosted with the addition of a youth event for the first time.
Four teams will contest the under 16s competition, with the conclusion being reached on a finals day that will also feature the open age Alliance and Carlsberg Cup showdowns.
Hilary Steel, secretary of Warrington Amateur Rugby League, said: "The under 16s competition was an idea put forward at one of our meetings and is possible because we have four under 16s teams in the town for the first time. It shows the development of the game across the town."
In the under 16s competition, Crosfields will entertain Culcheth Eagles in a bid to meet the winners of the tie between Latchford Albion and Rylands Sharks in the final.
The Carlsberg Cup semi finals draw has pitched North West Counties Premier Division side Bank Quay Bulls at home to Conference club Crosfields, with Rylands hosting fellow Division One side Latchford Albion.
Westbrook Tigers will be at home to Crosfields A in the preliminary round of the Carlsberg Alliance Cup, with the winners tackling Rylands A at home in the semi finals. Bank Quay Bulls A will travel to Latchford Albion A in the other semi.
The cup matches are to be fitted into the club's schedules with the finals day initially arranged for May 20 at Crosfields.
