12 Jan 2005 - Unicorn Coaches Meeting

January's meeting of Latchford Albion Unicorns''coaches was attended by representatives of all age groups, with 13 people present including Alan Bunce representing our major club sponsors, Padgate Appliances

CRB checks - Confirmation still required that Steve Yarnold and Steve Morgan's checks have come through. Still being processed are Robbie Ryan, Dave Appleby and Paul Rigby.

Website - A page dedicated to merchandising is being considered. Photos from past Open Age teams have been submitted by Mal Mason and will be included soon. Sadly, this was the only response to the request made in previous meetings.
Club Membership - we currently have 173 registered players across the nine age groups from U8 to U16, with 2 more cards to come through. Some of those registered have not completed club registration forms, this is being addressed.

Clubmark - The club still needs to revalidate it's status. An personal water bottle for each child is still being pursued, as is an infectious diseases policy.

School Promotional Leaflet - this item has been given the go ahead based on a partial proof presented. It is hoped these will now be in place by the next meeting.

Fundraising Events - Cash back from the Grand Final trip has been received. The £850 is to be used to offset team's fees to the club as previously agreed based on the contribution each team made to the event.
Stuart McIntosh and U15 parent Ann Thompson attended a seminar explaining the awards available to the club, this was cascaded to those present.

Coaching Courses - A 'core stability' course is set for 21st February, applicants to contact Sean Mellor.
The club has a number of candidates already to justify commissioning a Parents and Assistant Coaches Taster Day course. The Rugby League Coach Education Programme has devised a Taster Day Course aimed primarily at anyone seeking knowledge of the game's basic fundamental skills and an insight into Rugby League coaching. On completion of the course, the candidate will receive a Certificate of Attendance, which will carry Assistant Coach status. The next course will be run at Victoria Park but the Warrington Wolves have still not fixed a date. Despite this being advertised and coaches asked to plug it there were no additional names of applicants to those submitted at the last meeting. Interested? Contact Sean Mellor.
The Senior coaching co-ordinator (Sean Mellor) has visited each age group from U12 to U16 apart from U13 who will be his priority for next month. Our Junior Coaching co-ordinator, John Wilkinson has visited all age groups U8 to U11, apart from U9's.
Robbie Ryan circulated the CD of the National Coaching conference he attended.

Club Clothing and Equipment - John Wilkinson has begun issuing the Club Christmas present to all club members. Anyone wishing to purchase the Latchford towel they are availble to buy from John for £8.00 each.
We currently have plenty of items available to buy through John Wilkinson.
The current U13's coaches are still to submit a design for their 2005-06 kit and funding for this will be sought.
The additional set of post protectors have have not yet arrived.
27 square tackle shields are still to be purchased, along with small sized chest pads.

Christmas Parties - The U12's went to the David Lloyd Centre, the U13's earlier went to the Tri Nations. The U15's are exploring possibilities.

Please note this is only a portion of the items discussed at the January meeting, but these are the salient points that may interest our members and/or their guardians.

Next meeting scheduled to take place at the Grange Club, 8pm Wednesday 9th February 2005
