Latchford Albion Unicorns U8's - 24Chorley Panthers U8 - 8
A strong defensive line from the Unicorns set up some early possesion for Liam Wray to cross from a 5m scoot to open the scoring. Again good tackling from Jack Wilson and James Heaton prevented the Panthers from completing their sets of 6. Speed and agility from Mitchell Rutter 20m out clocked his first of three. Strong forward running and good yards made by Katie Mercer and Thomas Worthington made it inevitable for Jacob Proudlove to cross the line for a well deserved try. With Charlie Antelo and Byron Fleming completing one on one tackles the ball was quickly turned over and Nathan Ashbrook used all his speed to chase half the pitch to convert his efforts to points with a sole try. The Panthers soon made good yards and scored in the corner however it had a quick reply from a good run by Connor Leyland. This opened up for Jacob Proudlove to bring in five Panthers and off load to Mitchell Rutter to go over for his second just on the stroke of half time.
Quick changes at half time and the Panthers scored an early try with strong running from first reciever. The only answer for this in the second half was a good scoot from Mitchell Rutter to complete his hat-trick. All players from both sides enjoyed the mornings rugby and a good feed at the Imperial Hotel after. We are all looking forward to our next fixture.
Coaches award went Byron Fleming. 1st Half top tackler Jacob Proudlove. 2nd Half top tackler Connor Leyland. Player of the Match was Mitchell Rutter
