U11 06-07

24/09/2006 v Golborne Parkside (away)
Golborne Parkside U11 - 28
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 32

Latchford's preparations for the new season were shaken when, despite building up a squad of sixteen, two of their longstanding and promising players handed in transfer requests this very week. A threadbare nine stalwarts took to the field in Gold and Maroon, yet, against all the odds pulled off a magnificent win in a very tough game. Sean Withington and Mike Moye both scored two tries, while Connor Jolley and Harvey Livett score one each. Four kicks were sucessful but unfortunately the kickers weren't recorded. Back to top
01/10/2006 v Haresfinch Hawks (home)
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 12
Haresfinch Hawks U11 - 16

An uncharacteristic lacklustre performance by Latchford's Under Elevens were on show at Victoria Park today. Despite this the Unicorns took the lead very early on in the game and continued to hold their own until the dying seconds of the match when they conceded one try too many to finally lose the match.

Latchford's tries were scored by Harvey Livett, Sean Withington and Conor Jolley but none were converted. Back to top
08/10/2006 v Leigh Miners Rangers (away)
Leigh Miners Rangers U11 - 28
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 28

With just ten eligible players Latchford put in a much better team performance this game with an emphasis on team. Sean Withington and Mike Moyes both scored two tries, Sam Dobson scored one and all three kicked a goal as did Harvey Livett Back to top
15/10/2006 v Wigan St Jude's (home)
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 22
Wigan St Jude's U11 - 6

An ever-improving attitude and team spirit helped Latchford overcome the big and powerful visitors from Wigan. Sean Withington, Mike Moye, Sam Dobson and Harvey Livett scored a try each, the latter three converting to get the Unicorns back onto winning ways. Back to top
22/10/2006 v Pilkington Recs (away)
Pilkington Recs U11 - 18
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 6

Despite the result this was a very effort from all nine Latchford players boosted after the home side leant two players. No backward step was taken. Harvey Livett scored the Latchford try, which he duly converted. Back to top
29/10/2006 v Leigh East Wasps (away)
Leigh East Wasps U11 - 32
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 24

05/11/2006 v Crosfields Cobras (home)
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 6
Crosfields Cobras U11 - 14

Latchford players learnt the hard way in this game after losing out to neighbours Crosfields and to curb their over enthusiasm, or at least channel it positively instead of incurring the wrath of the officials. Sean Withington scored and converted his own try. Back to top
19/11/2006 v Orrell St James (home)
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 0
Orrell St James U11 - 30

Having a week off didn't help in the preparation for this game that ended in a whitewash for the Unicorns. However, the game was a lot closer than the scoreline shows. What the scoreline does show is that games can only be won if the tries are taken when presure is applied and that Orrell were clinical in their approach to scoring. Back to top
26/11/2006 v Leigh East Mustangs (away)
Leigh East Mustangs U11 - 34
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 32

This was as exciting and competitive as the scoreline suggests with the nine-strong Unicorn team combining well and players performing to their full capabilities. A shining example was George Wright who put in his best performance to date having picked up his game considerably. Sean Withington scored two tries and kicked one goal as did Mike Moye. Harvey Livett, Sam Dobson and Sam Reynolds also crossed the whitewash. Back to top
03/12/2006 v Haydock Warriors (home)
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 6
Haydock Warriors U11 - 12

In one of the best games of this season so far Latchford had to adapt to a new aspect of the game, physicality. It was an exciting, pulsating affair that will stand the Under 11's in good stead for future encounters as the game gets more impactive. Harvey Livett scored a try and conversion in a close run match Back to top
28/01/2007 v Rylands Tigers (away)
Rylands Tigers U11 - 16
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - '46'

Just eight players made the relatively short trip to neighbours Rylands as the U11's were relieved to finally get back on the playing field in what was their first game of 2007. Borrowing three players from their hosts it could easily have been a damp squib of a performance with players being rusty and not being able to put into practice any learnt skils from the training ground. Not a bit of it. This was a wonderful performance typified by the outstanding George wright who showed much improved running and backing up, which was the key feature of the team.

Sean Withington and Mike Moye scored two tries each. Phil Judson, Jackson Hall, Sam Reynolds, Connor Jolley and Harvey Livett each scored a try and all scorers also kicked over a conversion.

Sadly it's another week off before an away trip to Saddleworth Rangers Back to top
11/02/2007 v Saddleworth Rangers (away)
Saddleworth Rangers U11 - 12
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 12

This game was played hard but fair with both defences tackling ferociously. In heavy conditions Latchford crossed first, scoring a good try through Sean Withington. Saddleworth levelled in a tit-for-tat game as the first half ended all sqaure.

Latchford scored first again after the break through Jackson Hall and it looked like it was going to be aLatchford victory until some lapse defending in the last minute allowed the home side to share the spoils. Sam Dobson was voted man of the match. Back to top
18/02/2007 v Mayfield Mustangs (home)
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 30
Mayfield Mustangs U11 - 10

The under 11s score was 30pts to 10pts in Latchfords favour. Harvey Livett caused the visitors' defence all sorts of problems with some strong running and scored two tries and a conversion. Sean Withington scored a try and converted as did Sam Dobson who again shone in the backs. Phil Judson scored a try and Adam Hardman registered his first for the club. George Wright was impressive in a game where the defence set up the victory against a physically larger opposition. Back to top
24/02/2007 v Burtonwood Bulldogs (home)
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 10
Burtonwood Bulldogs U11 - 14

Not a lot went the way of the nine Latchford players who lost out to neighbours Burtonwood by just one try. Played on Saturday the team didn't perform to their best in this derby. Sean Withington scored two more tries and Jackson Hall converted one while Sam Dobson received the coaches' award for merit. Back to top
11/03/2007 v Oldham St Anne's (home)
Latchford Albion Unicorns U11 - 20
