16/09/2006 v Spring View (away)
Spring View - 36
Latchford Albion 'A' - 4

Latchford put in a great performance against a well-drilled side and defended for almost 40mins as Spring View scored tries after capitalising on a few mistakes by the visiting side. During the first half Latchford defended well and had two or three good chances to score but a knock-on and ill discipline when they wer attacking lost them possession and spring view took advantage. Latchford will be in a better position once the few little problems are sorted out. There was some great running from the forwards; Chris Russel, Andy Wood, Barney Ebdon, and Lyndon Taylor, drew Latchford nearer to the home team's line but they just couldn't finish some great moves put on by half backs Lord and Pemberton.

The second half saw Latchford hold Spring View and then score with an interception from Dean Holt who ran 80 yrds to touch down. The final quarter was the best for the Albion as they defended very well against a strong running side, Ste Corey, Barney Ebdon and substitute Mal Mason made some great tackles backed up by the rest of the Latchford outfit. The tackle of the game was a fifty yard chase down by 41yr old Mark Lord to bundle the Spring View player into touch and save a certain try. Latchford looked like they were enjoying the game and played some nice rugby towards the end of the game so that the score didn't reflect the effort of the lads. Andy Wood received the man-of-the-match followed closely by Mark Smith and Ash Pemberton, to name just a couple. Back to top
