Bold Miners - 28

Latchford Albion's Open Age team marked their return to the Premier Division of the North West Counties League after a 16-year absence with a gutsy performance against Bold Miners before losing 28-18 at Victoria Park.

The Miners took advantage of two Latchford sin-binnings to chalk up their win although they were never in arrears. Iain Fowler, Matt Taylor and Chris Buckley scored tries for the Albion with Matt Drinkwater kicking three goals. Back to top

Orrell St James' - 48
Latchford Albion - 4

Tony Faitaua scored the only try for Latchford but it was scant consolation as they were blown away by fellow promoted side Orrell St James who had led 18-0 at the interval and added another 30 points afterwards.

The next fixture for the Albion provides some welcome relief from the league programme as they play a local derby against Westbrook Tigers in the preliminary round of the BARLA Lancashire Cup. Back to top
