Latchford Albion U19's 18 - 26 Leigh East U18's
A disastrous opening 15 minutes cost Albion this game for they put the ball out of play from the opening kick off and Leigh hit them hard from the penalty tap, which eventually led to a try. Albion were again penalised from the kick off and further Leigh pressure put another ten points on the board, while another try followed for Leigh within five minutes.

Trailing 26-0 at the break, Albion got their act together and tries from Andrew Leed, James Halligan and Peter Hayes with three goals from Damien Brown brought them close to a possible victory, but despite good work by Darren Halligan and impressive work by newcomers James Brabin and Chris Smith. Unfortunately Albion ran out of time and Leigh East held on to victory. Back to top
Latchford Albion U19's 4 - 40 Wigan St Patrick's U19's
This was very much a case of David and Goliath going the other way, for Albion were up against a bigger, better and by all accounts an older side and the smaller, "under age" Latchford team were left to tackle their hearts out for 80 minutes - which they did with great credit.

Certainly nobody could be faulted for effort and the visitorssportingly gave the man of the match award to Damien Brown who, with Darren Halligan and Chris Smith, just about topped Albion's tackle count.

Persistent effort paid off in the end when James Brabin and Steve Parker broke clear to put James Halligan in for a very well earned and well deserved consolation try. This was an excellent game with some very talented players in the Wigan side who thoroughly deserved the victory. Back to top
Latchford Albion U19's 32 - 6 Parkside U19's
Albion returned to winning form at long last with what turned out to be a comfortable victory in the end analysis, but the two sides were more evenly matched than the scoreline suggests and Latchford were made to work hard for their victory.

Gavin Clancy moved from loose forward to stand off as Albion fielded a reshuffled pack. This seemed to work well as the home side put enough constant pressure on Parkside to force their way in for an early try. Although the visitors hit back almost immediately with a penalty goal, Albion slowly added to their score.

With a considerable amount of powerful running by second row Neil Wright had the result sewn up mid way through the second half. Chris Swift had an excellant game and grabbed a hat trick of tries with others coming to the hard working James Brabin, Gavin Clancy and man-of-the-match Jimmy Harrison. Substitute Darren Halligan also scored a fine try whilst Chris Swift and Phil Hilton each added a conversion goal as Albion ran out worthy winners. Back to top
Latchford Albion U19's 38 - 20 Leigh Miners U19's
This was a fine win for Albion who produced their best form for sometime. After scoring seven tries to stamp their authority on the match they then eased up and let the Miners in for three tries in the final ten minutes, which detracted from an otherwise first class attitude.

Prop forward Darren Drury and second row men Phil Hilton and Gavin Clancy proved much too strong for the visitors. Stand off Darren Halligan used them and Gavin Clancy to tear holes in the Leigh defences giving plenty of attacking runs to Albion's threequarters. Back to top
