Eacret picked up the award for the defence and Wilkinson was overall player-of-the-match. Back to top

Other tries came from Ryan burgess, Sam Dobson, Jake Slydell and Matthew Wilkinson.
Liam Sullivan, Ryan Burgess and Jake Slydell made good tackles with Slydell receiving the defensive award. The coach felt though, that there was still work needed on the Unicorns' game plan. Back to top
Rochdale Mayfield U8's 40 - 36 Latchford Albion U8's
Despite the heavy conditions this was an excellent game of rugby. It was end to end and played with great team spirit in both attack and defence. It was unfortunate that Latchford were just edged out in the end, but their great all round effort meant this was probably their best performance of the season so far.
Tries were scored by Jake Slydell who scored four, Matthew Wilkinson, three, and Liam Sullivan. Jake picked up the attacking plaudits but Lewis Appleton won the defence award and overall player of the match was Sam Wright who typified the Latchford work ethic.
The Under 8's now have enough players registered who are eligible to play at Under 7 level, so we'll be starting an U7's in 2003. Back to top

Liam Cross, Liam Sullivan, Ryan burgess and Josh Sands were the other try scorers. Back to topHalton Hornets U8's 40 - 28 Latchford Albion U8's
A fast, hard game with the Hornets just having too much sting for the Unicorns. Matthew Wilkinson again showed excellent attacking skills scoring another four tries. Big Liam Cross who is running with more power every game he plays pushed him hard for the attacking award. Jake Slydell collected the defence award for his copybook tackling as well as scoring a try. Player of the match was Ryan Burgess for his fearless attitude in attack and his best defensive game so far. Lee Eccleston deserves a special mention on his debut who looks like he'll prove a real asset for the club. Back to topLatchford Albion U8's 24 - 32 Portico U8's
A good team performance with Lewis Appleton winning the defence award for his one-on-one tackling. Matthew Wilkinson's barnstorming runs earned him a hat trick, 'cheeky' Liam Sullivan scored a brace and Liam Cross scored another. Back to topWoolston Rovers U8's 40 - 40 Latchford Albion U8's

Leigh were just too strong and fast for Latchford in this game. Matthew Wilkinson was again outstanding going forward but he was unable to cross the whitewash. Latchford's only score came from player of the match Jake Slydell who never stopped running. Lewis Appleton also had a good game while Liam Sullivan picked up the defence award for the second game in a row. Back to topChorley Panthers U8's 24 - 28 Latchford Albion U8's
Latchford completed the double over Chorley, their first such feat of the season. However, the Albion did not have matters all their own way and were pushed hard to the final whistle.Jared Eacret was excellent at halfback leading the attacks. Yet again Liam Sullivan stood out in defence with his one-on-one tackling. The player of the match award was shared who the coach thought were both worthy of call-ups for the Warrington Wolves except for their age!! They were Matthew Wilkinson who scored three tries and Jake Slydell who claimed two. Liam Sullivan and Jack Morgan were the other try scorers for the Albion. Back to top
