Latchford Albion 'A'

13/09/2003 v Bold Miners 'A'
Latchford Albion A 12
Bold Miners A 14

BOLD got out of jail for the second week running. It was winger Mike Mitchell who stepped out of tackles to plunge over in the corner, the conversion was missed.

The big Latchford outfit replied with a converted try to lead 6-4 at half time.

After the break Gary Talbot marshalled his pack well bringing forwards Graeme Bannister, Dave Davies and John Mayor thundering in to the Latchford pack and this constant pressure led to sub Gaz Mercer sending big Dave Davies crashing over out wide.

The only sour note in the game was when Bold full back Ste Dumphy was carried off with a serious knee injury.

Bold's lack of discipline, conceding several pointless penalties, led to Latchford re-establishing their lead when the right centre raced in under the posts.

Another two points from the kick and Bold trailed 10-8.

But again Bold produced the goods when the inspirational hooker Gary Talbot put Joe Haggerty away to score under the posts. Steve Rybczynski ensured the two league points went to Bold as he calmly added the extras.

Man of the match was Graeme Bannister, with captain Richard Mayor, Gary Talbot and Alan Lethbridge all playing well. Back to top

22/02/2004 v Golborne Parkside 'A' (away)
Parkside Golborne Open Age 'A' - 10
Latchford Albion Open Age 'A' - 24

Latchford Albion's 'A' team dedicated their classy away day win at Golborne to departing utility player Jimmy Partridge. He has decided to return home to New Zealand after scoring 50 tries in four seasons for Latchford and he enjoyed a fairytale send off on Saturday.

Captain for the day, Partridge scored the final try of Latchford's North West Counties Amateur League Division Six game against Parkside. Latchford's other try scorers included Mark Lord and Ryan Barnes.

Latchford had the ball for three quarters of the match and Golborne could not cope with the power of their rampaging forwards.

Mal Mason and Mike Green were particularly impressive while Glynn Taylor was Latchford's top tackler. Back to top
