A very hard first game with Rose Bridge having a bit more pace. Latchford attacked well with Michael Wharton scoring three on his debut. Liam Sullivan scored two and Ryan Burgess one. Jake Slydell gained the defence award and Matthew Wilkinson the attack award, while Wharton was the coaches' player of the day with a special mention for Alex Robertson in his first ever game of rugby league. The end result was a fair reflection of this game of end-to-end rugby. Jack Morgan showed the way with his defence while Michael Wharton's running, Liam Cross' all-round game and Matthew Wilkinson's power and passing were equally impressive. Wilkinson scored four tries, Liam Sullivan two and Jake Slydell two. Back to top

After being 6 - 24 down at half time the Unicorns came alive in the second half with a big hitting defence and powerful runs. Jack Morgan stood out again in defence. Matthew Wilkinson and Liam Sullivan claimed a brace of tries each and Michael Wharton scored the other. Sam Wright was also praiseworthy. Back to top

Once again the Unicorns had to come from behind, losing 28-18 at the break. Jake Slydell's faultless defence complimented powerful running from Lee Eccleston. Player-of-the-match was Matthew Wilkinson whose passing and running yielded him a hat trick. Michael Wharton continues to impress since his move from Rylands and bagged a brace of tries as did Eccleston. Other try scorers were Liam Sullivan and Jack Morgan. Daniel had an excellent debut. The defence was excellent led by Matty Wilkinson with 28 tackles and Jack Morgan. Hat trick hero Sam Wright was superb in attack as were Mikey Wharton who also scored a hat trick and Lee Eccleston (2). Other try scorers were Morgan (2), Wilkinson, Jake Slydell, Liam Sullivan and Liam Slydell. Back to top

A well-drilled Blackbrook side had too much pace for the Unicorns. Jake Slydell and Matthew Wilkinson were showing heart and the latter picked up a hat trick of tries. Mikey Wharton scored the other try.

Woolston Rovers U9's - 28

A hard fought local derby played at a fast pace went in favour of Woolston who just had the edge. Latchford blooded three new players in Billy Grimshaw, Connor Davies and Timothy Donoghue who all showed excellent potential for the future. Jake Slydell played out of his skin as player-of-the-match. Matty Wilkinson was the best attacker with two tries and Mikey Wharton picked up the defence award. Billy Grimshaw, with one try, was the coaches' choice of players. Other try scorers were Lee Eccleston and Sam Wright. Back to top

An outstanding defensive effort paved the way for this victory. Daniel Reid's all round game earned him the player-of-the-match award. Liam Sullivan's textbook tackling won the defence award and Liam Cross' powerhouse running gave him the attacking award. Charlie Humphries picked up the coaches' award, while there was an excellent debut from Liam Southworth. Latchford made too many attacking errors in this game but they scored tries via Jake Slydell (2), Matty Wilkinson and player of the match Lee Eccleston.

What a game of junior rugby league this was played by two strong teams.
Latchford's try scorers were Matty Wilkinson, Lee Eccleston, Ryan Burgess and Jack Morgan.
Morgan's kamikaze attack plan gained him the attacking award, while Jake Slydell took the defence award. Matty Wilkinson was named player-of-the-match and Lee Eccleston received the coaches' award. Back to top

This was a much improved team effort from Latchford but despite their efforts they just lost out in this hard-fought game.
Charlie Humphries was the player of the match for his all round display. Jack Morgan took the defence award for his tireless tackling. Liam (Rob Burrows) Sullivan received the attack award, not just for scoring a hat trick, but for his support play and darting runs from dummy half. He was pushed hard by Mickey Wharton who scored two tries.
Matthew Wilkinson also scored two, while Jack Morgan grabbed the other. Back to top

A series of knock-ons put paid to Latchford's chances of winning this game.
The coaches' award went to Alex Robertson who scored a try on his debut, while Mickey Wharton was the player of the match scoring two tries. Liam Sullivan and Daniel Reid both got a try each. Charlie Humphries and Ryan Burgess also did well in attack.

This was a very fast game played at a high intensity.
Michael Wharton with two tries led an outstanding team performance from the Unicorns. Pushing him hard for the player-of-the-match award was top attacker Jake Slydell who scored a try.
Liam Cross? blockbusting tackles showed the rest how to restrict this fast running Halton outfit from scoring.
Big all-round efforts came from try scorers Jack Morgan, Matthew Wilkinson, Ryan Burgess (2).
Ste Derbyshire scored atry and Daniel Reid, Lewis Appleton, Billy Grimshaw continued to show marked improvement. Back to top

Another excellent game of junior rugby saw both teams running and tackling their hearts out on a very hot day.
Jack Morgan yet again led from the front winning the man of the match and scoring two tries. Liam Sullivan's interception try helped him pick up the award for attacking play
Lewis Appleton?s one-on-one tackling gained him the defence award
Matty Wilkinson and Jake Slydell enjoyed strong games while Lee Eccleston, Daniel Gee and Ste Darbyshire continue to show improvement. Ste and Jake also scored tries. Back to top

Overall this was a superb team performance, but missed tackles in the second half gave Moorfield four tries.
Daniel Reid was the Latchford player-of-the-match for his backing up and copy book defence. Also strong in defence was Ste Darbyshire
Mickey Whartony, Mathew Wilkinson and Jack Morgan all played well in attack, while the coaches' award went to Lee Eccleston who enjoyed one of his best games for the club.

Passing, running, off loads were all excellent today, but again too many missed tackles by a few members of the team cost the Unicorns five tries in this fast hard under 9?s game.
Try scorer Matty Wilkinson was picked out by the other team?s coach as the man-of-the-match, but Mickey Wharton, who got the attack award for his hat trick of tries, pushed him very hard.
George Emerson got the defence award, with Lee Eccleston being picked for the coach?s award

Outstanding, that?s the best way to describe today?s team performance. Grappenhall put in a good team performance and over time they will develop into a good team as they showed some glimpses of attacking skill but today everything clicked for the Albion.
Passing, support play, teamwork and defence all came together for the first time this season.
Bradley Byron got the player of the match award for his excellent support play and defensive efforts, with Billy Grimshaw's attacking power gained him the attack award. Lewis Appleton?s solo tacking gaining him the defence award.

Yet again too many missed tackles from a few players cost the unicorns numerous tries and this victory. However it?s never been about winning and all the players came off the field with vast improvements in their own game.
Jake Slydell led from the front in attack by scoring two tries as well as defence to win the man of the match award. It was clearly his best performance of the season.
Rob Burrows, oops sorry ! Liam Sullivan's outstanding solo defence gained him the defence award, he also scored an excellent try.
Michael Wharton's explosive running on to the ball caused lots of problems, he won the attack award and also scored 2 tries.
Matthew Wilkinson kept the team's 'go forward' in the right gear and he produced a brilliant display of running and off-loading to players backing him up, he gained the coaches' award and also scored a try.
Other try scorers were Liam Cross, Ste Darbyshire. Back to top

Hard running, Interpassing and backing up was the platform for this unicorns victory today, all the team can take lots of pride away from this match as they have improved on there own last games.
Jack Morgan ran in 3 tries today and also made numerous tackles to
take the player of the match award. Jake Slydell scored 2 tries but backed up anyone the made a break, he was always hungry for more action in attack..
Ste Darbyshire scored a try but it was his defence - yes his defence - today that he gets an award for it was out of the ordinary for him and he will have to keep it up for the last few remaining games.
Matthew Wilkinson go forward and ability to offload to players backing up, producing some excellent tries for the team, his defence was also very strong today. He was picked for the coach?s award.
Liam Sullivan, Bradley Byron, Alex Robertson, Michael Wharton, also scored today for the unicorns.
Todays match was all about team work and team spirit , which was produced by all today. Back to top
